Three out of four personnel staff fail to take their full holiday entitlement and four out of five admit to working while they should be relaxing on days off.

Norman Hodges, Rank Leisure HR director, said staff need time off so they can perform well when they are at work. “I would be most upset if I wasn’t taking all my own holiday entitlement,” he said. “You do need time to recharge you batteries. I certainly would not want staff not to be taking their own quota.”
The totaljobs.com survey showed 60 per cent of HR staff feel guilty about taking holidays while 96 per cent say have they have gone into work when they were sick and knew they should be at home.
