The
Alliance and Leicester financial services group is to close 46 bank branches
across the UK, with the loss of more than 300 jobs.
The
Alliance and Leicester Group Union of Staff (Algus) today said it was dismayed
at the news.
Algus
general secretary Clare Clark said: "Staff are shocked at the scale of
today’s announcement and angry at the way the company has handled the proposed
closures. Previously whenever there have been job losses, the company has acted
within the redundancy agreement negotiated with the union."
