The newly-formed National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) has announced the appointment of Angela O’Connor as executive director HR (policing). The NPIA will be a new central resource to help police forces improve the way they work. It aims to drive continuous improvement across policing to deliver better services to the public. This role will provide professional leadership in HR matters for police forces in England and Wales and will also be responsible for national police training and leadership programmes. O’Connor is currently HR director at the Crown Prosecution Service and was previously in senior HR roles in three London local authorities. She was named HR Director of the Year at the 2005 Personnel Today awards and is the current president of the Public Sector People Managers Association.
