The Bank of England has decided not to follow the lead of the US and cut interest rates.

The bank’s monetary policy committee today voted to maintain base interest rates at 6 per cent.
The rate has not altered for almost a year. It last changed on 10 February 2000 when it increased by 0.25 per cent.
