The biggest day of industrial unrest since the General Strike in 1926 is planned for tomorrow, with hundreds of thousands public sector workers beginning a 24-hour protest against government plans to change their pensions. Members of Unison, the Public and Commercial Services Union, the Transport and General Workers Union, Amicus, construction union Ucatt and top civil servants union the First Division Association will strike in protest at plans to raise the pension age in the public sector from 60 to 65 and scrap final salary schemes.
