Biscuits
have been banned from NHS staff meetings in Lanarkshire in an effort to promote
healthy eating.
The
Glasgow Evening Times reports that chief executive David Pigott and hundreds of
employees will now snack on apples and oranges instead.
He
said he hoped to set a good example to Lanarkshire’s 563,000 people. The area
has one of the worst dental health records in Scotland.
John
York, chairman of NHS Lanarkshire’s healthy eating staff group, said: "We
wanted to encourage good health within our own staff organisation and set an
example other organisations could follow.

of a plate of biscuits in the middle of the table, we now have apples, grapes
and kiwi fruit."
