BMI pilots to vote on strike action

Holiday
misery could be looming as BMI British Midland pilots began a provisional
ballot for strike action over pay last night.

More
than 260 pilots are to vote after they rejected a 1.5 per cent pay offer
combined with extra allowances and holidays.

The
airline, which operates 2,000 flights a week across the UK, Europe and North
America, is the latest to be threatened with strikes, with more than 8,000
British Airways staff at UK airports due to vote on industrial action over pay
in the next week.
