Bolton Council is to cut up to 500 jobs in an attempt to reduce its budget by £50m, the BBC has reported.

Executive members of the council voted in favour of the redundancies ahead of expected public sector spending cuts.
The council employs 12,000 staff and has said it will seek volunteers for retirement and redundancy. It hopes to cut spending by 40% over the next five years.
