Employees at Brent Council could soon be stopped from smoking during working hours, it has emerged.
Councillors will vote on Monday whether to outlaw smoking except before and after work and during lunch breaks.
The policy, which would come into force at the north London council on 1 July, would remove designated smoking zones and ban smoking in the Town Hall foyer.
Support will be offered to those who want to give up smoking in the form of Nicotine Replacement Therapy.

Brent Council’s Anne John told the BBC: “We have a duty to protect the majority of employees by having a smoke-free environment.
“There are areas where smoking is allowed and everybody that walks through there is subjected to that smoke and that is no longer acceptable.”
