Following strong growth in 2008/09, workplace e-learning specialist Brightwave today announces its new contract win for the world’s leading portable navigation solutions provider TomTom. Brightwave will develop a new retail customer service e-learning training programme for TomTom across Europe.
TomTom’s new e-learning programme from Brightwave will provide increased flexibility in its product training for retail staff (including Dixons, Halfords and Currys) across the UK and Europe. Following implementation, in-store staff will be able to access product information (available in 20 languages) on specific TomTom features.
Lyndal Newman, marketing communications manager Europe at TomTom said: “Brightwave’s retail experience with the likes of IKEA and Microsoft and its ability to bring something new to the learning experience made them the obvious choice when we were looking for a new e-learning partner. Their ability to use different methods to engage learners was ideal, particularly as our key objective was to communicate rather complicated technical knowledge in a flexible and fun manner.”
The new online training programme for TomTom will incorporate games, quizzes and animation. It negates the need to plough through an entire training programme to answer a specific product feature query. The course from Brightwave will be launched in May in five European countries with twelve other countries to follow shortly. It will also be made available on some retailer intranets.

Charles Gould, Brightwave’s managing director adds: “Brightwave’s highly engaging business-critical e-learning is proving a real winner this year and was crucial in securing this new contract with TomTom. It adds further credibility to our customer service and product differentiation offer as companies strive to raise their game and build consumer confidence.”
