West
Bromwich Building Society has won the health at work category in last year’s
Personnel Today Awards.
The
society, which has completely overhauled its approach to employee health and
well-being in the past three years, scooped the Aon Health Solutions Award at
the ceremony in London in November.
People
support officer Julia Malpass said she was "delighted" her team had
won.

Since
2000, the society has brought in a raft of initiatives, including promoting
corporate membership of local gyms, the introduction of a dedicated OH
department, health assessments by a nurse, access to an alternative therapist
and a review of sickness absence procedures and policies.
Since
entering the awards, the society has also introduced a chiropractor for staff
and has just tested sports and remedial massage, which is now being run on
either a fortnightly or weekly basis.
