Business love affair with all things internet continues

The
relationship between business and the internet has continued to grow, according
to the Office for National Statistics.

The
number of UK firms with websites increased from 25 per cent in 2001 to 29 per
cent in 2002.

More
than half of all organisations now have access to the internet with the numbers
rising from 51 per cent in 2001 to 59 per cent in the latest survey.

The
e-commerce survey looked at 12,000 companies and found that broadband was the
main type of internet connection.

However,
the use of PCs (66 per cent) and e-mail (51 per cent) seems to have reached
saturation point with little change in the 12 months between surveys.
