The
CBI has called on the Government to set up a working fund for industrial
accidents in an attempt to ease the "growing crisis" in employers’
liability insurance.
CBI
director general Digby Jones said a working fund could pay for immediate
treatment of injured employees and be repaid by the insurers or the employer.
"We
need to change the emphasis to get people back to work, rather than focusing on
the cost to the industry. Let’s get the money spent and then decide who foots
the bill," he said.

added that CBI members viewed the soaring costs of the compulsory insurance
