The CBI is calling on the next Government to promote
lifelong learning and improve business links with education.
In its manifesto for business, the CBI has claimed that the
next Government must do more to increase the skills of the UK workforce.
Timed to coincide with the election manifestos, it claims
that businesses must have a say in the new Learning and Skills Councils, which
will oversee post-16 learning.
The CBI claims that French, Germany and US workers are more
productive than UK employees.
Low literacy and numeracy contribute to this lack of
productivity, claims the manifesto.
