A new HR centre launches this week with the aim of bringing together business experts and top HR directors to tackle the most pressing issues facing the sector today.
The Centre for Performance-Led HR at Lancaster University Management School, which opens on Thursday, will work with HR directors from some of the world’s leading organisations on strategic projects, and provide members with a whole raft of data to support decision-making at senior levels.
Leading HR directors from Royal Mail Group, the Royal Bank of Scotland, Vodafone, Britannia Building Society, McDonald’s, Shell, Co-operative Financial Services, North West Development Agency, building services firm NG Bailey and United Utilities have all accepted invitations to join the centre.

Joint director of the centre, professor Cary Cooper, said: “Nobody needs telling how tough today’s business environment is for HR directors. Outsourcing, pressure on costs and the rise of human capital accounting represent only part of an increasingly complex strategic contribution HR makes to business.
“The stakes have been rising. With added responsibilities and recognition have come increasing pressures to account for added value.”
