Shropshire County Council was right to dismiss a residential social worker
after she appeared in a pornographic magazine, an employment tribunal found
last week.
Social worker Fleur Maidment was working in a children’s home when nude
pictures of her appeared in Escort.
She was recognised by children in the home after they saw the pictures and
was dismissed by the council last October.
Maidment claimed that her boyfriend had sent in the photographs without her
knowledge or consent.

John Hodges, Shropshire County Council’s solicitor, said, "We are
required to provide a higher standard of parenting than we might expect from
natural parents and we can only do so via our policies and procedures and by
our employees setting the highest standards of conduct and being positive role
models."
He added that her position had become untenable.
