A
North East trade union leader is expected to be announced as the new general
secretary of the GMB union, according to reports.
The
Journal newspaper claims GMB North East general secretary Kevin Curran is set
to be named the overall leader after winning a ballott.
It’s
reported that Curran, who has been North East general secretary for six years,
secured about two-thirds of the vote in a ballot of the union’s 700,000
members.

official result of the ballot will be announced later today.
