Dairy Crest, the UK dairy foods manufacturer has announced
it will axe more than 900 jobs following its merger with rival Unigate in July
last year.
The jobs will go from its plants in Cardiff, Hartingdon in Derbyshire,
Frome and Chard in Somerset, and Crudgington in Shropshire.
Dairy Crest’s plant in Carmarthen, Dyfed will close
completely when the reconfiguration is completed in April.
The company hopes to establish a £23 million “super dairy”
in Severnside, Gloucestershire, creating 320 new jobs.
