A delivery driver who was told he “stank of BO” by his female boss has been awarded £3,000 by an employment tribunal.
Alex Frowd, 26, said office manager Julie Cummings was “worse than any male boss” he’d ever had, adding he feared being around her and took his breaks outside the office away from her, the Telegraph has reported.
Frowd, of Newport, Gwent, who claimed unfair dismissal after he was sacked from his £240-a-week job by Cummings, 40, won his case at the Cardiff employment tribunal.
He said they’d had a good relationship but that quickly deteriorated when she treated him “like an unpaid servant”.
He told the tribunal: “Once when an empty Coke can was found in my van she lost all control and was shouting and screaming at me.
“I was terrified she was going to hit me and after that I left the office when I was on a break just to get away from her,” he said.
Cummings said Frowd had made no allegations of bullying and harassment when he was working at the firm.
But the tribunal ruled the company failed to follow proper procedures in firing him, and he was awarded £3,300 compensation for unfair dismissal.
