The Education and Employers Taskforce charity has launched a national campaign to encourage private and public sector business leaders to visit state schools and colleges, in an effort to build closer links between business and young people.
The ‘Visit our Schools’ week, which takes place between 18 and 22 October, is free and requires one or two hours in the week to visit a local school or college. Business leaders are matched with a local school or college.

Hundreds of thousand of employers are already involved, using the opportunity to recruit new staff, motivate and develop existing staff and enhance the reputation of their businesses, the charity said.
“Engaging directly with schools and colleges is one of the most effective ways in which employers can help shape education today to meet the skills needs of tomorrow,” said Miles Templeman, director-general of the Institute of Directors.
