Employment Statistics

• 7 per cent of people with learning difficulties are in paid employment – most of which is part time

• 4 per cent of people with learning difficulties living in residential care are in paid employment

• Disabled people are more than six times as likely as non-disabled people to be out of work and on benefit

• 58 per cent of people in work earn less than £10,000 a year

• A disabled employee has an 86 per cent above average attendance record, 90 per cent above average job performance and 97 per cent above average safety record
