Pay
settlements in the engineering and manufacturing sectors have edged up slightly
according to the latest figures from the Engineering Employers’ Federation
(EEF).
For
the three months to the end of October 2002 the average level was 2.4 per cent.
For the three months to the end of September it was 2.3 per cent.
In
the three months to the end of October the number of pay freezes remained
constant at nearly one in seven of all reported settlements. However, those companies
report that deferred pay settlements have risen to nearly 9 per cent.
