A
new free helpline for employers seeking advice on equality issues and good
practice in the workplace has been set up, called Equality Direct.
The
Government-backed advice line will give guidance to employers on all aspects of
equality including age, religion and sexual orientation.
The
project is managed by ACAS and run by a consortium of BSS (a charity providing
helplines) and law firm DLA.
Employers
seeking advice on an equality issue can ring the Equality Direct helpline seven
days a week on 0845 600 3444.
Lines
are open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday or 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
Advice
is free, all employers pay is the cost of a local call. General information on
good practice is also available on the website.
