Europeans
applying for jobs in the City are better educated than their British
counterparts and are securing many of the better-paid jobs, according to
research by headhunters Napier Scott Executive.
Ninety six
per cent of European job hunters whose details are held by Napier Scott speak a
second language compared to just 9 per cent of their British competitors.
While British
City professionals can expect a typical salary and bonus package of £167,000,
European applicants are getting about £212,000. The British candidates are 10
per cent less likely to have a degree.
Only when
it comes to trading are the positions reversed, according to Shaun Springer,

Springer explained
that Europeans working in London are more likely to be working in senior sales,
marketing and analysis, while British talent dominates the buying and selling
of shares, bonds, options and currencies.
The survey
was based on analysis of over 14,700 candidate profiles on Napier Scott’s
database.
