Firefighters’
employers are to write to all firefighters setting out guarantees over pay, the
Financial Times reports.
The
paper said the letter hopes to win over rank-and-file members of the Fire
Brigades’ Union.
Employers
are expected to promise that fire service personnel above the rank of
firefighter would receive at least the same £3,469 cash increase as
firefighters have been guaranteed.

In
exchange, it is expected they will to try and persuade firefighters to give up
their £1,000 long-service increment, awarded after 15 years of service.
