FirstGroup appoints John Evans as new group HR director

Transport giant FirstGroup has appointed of John Evans in the new role of group HR director.

Evans has moved to FirstGroup from his previous post as HR director at Strathclyde Police. Previously, he held HR roles at Diageo and British Airways.

FirstGroup employs 135,000 staff throughout the UK and North America.

Evans said: “FirstGroup has a great reputation to match its size and geographic spread and I am excited at the prospect of being part of its senior management team.”

“My focus is not only to ensure that First continues to attract and retain the best staff in the industry, but also to develop the undoubted talent we have in all areas of management,” he added.

Sidney Barrie, commercial director at FirstGroup, said: “John brings a wealth of experience to the role. Having recently started with us, he has settled in quickly and going forward will play a key role in First’s future success.”
