Parents-to-be at Prêt à Manger will receive flowers and a pager as part of a
series of benefits for employees announced last week.
The company, which has sandwich outlets across the UK, is offering
fathers-to-be the use of a pager during the final two months of their partner’s
pregnancy to help them keep in touch with developments.
It also sends flowers when a female member of staff has a baby and funds one
month’s childcare when she returns to work.
The mother also receives a health spa voucher, and new adoptive parents can
expect clothes vouchers worth £100.
"For people planning a family, many are put off by working in the
catering and fast food industry as employee benefits for mums and dads-to-be
are generally very poor," said Bruce Robertson, the company’s HR manager.

"We want to be a company where people want to work knowing they can
expect the best possible benefits."
The benefits are in addition to an existing package encompassing statutory
