Hundreds of baggage handlers at Gatwick Airport will stage two more one-day strikes after talks to resolve the dispute over workloads and the suspension of a union official failed.
The Transport & General Workers’ Union said that Servisair had only offered a “stay of execution” for the suspended official.
The baggage handlers, as well as maintenance workers, will now go ahead with a 12-hour walkout from 8.00am on Wednesday and again on Friday.
Servisair said it would put in place the same contingency plans which had kept disruption to a minimum during two recent one-day strikes at Gatwick.
