Glasgow’s
underground rail network is closed due to unofficial industrial action.
About
40 drivers are angry about extra duties they have been required to take on,
including training new staff walked out for 24 hours from this morning.
However,
the train operator, Strathclyde Passenger Transport said the strike is illegal
and striking drivers will face disciplinary action.
The
company said drivers were simply being asked to fulfil their job description by
training new recruits.
New
drivers are being employed with slightly altered duties – including monitoring
CCTV systems.
The
Transport and General Workers Union has not supported the strike action.
