GM to build new model at Ellesmere Port factory

General
Motors is to build the replacement for its Vauxhall Astra at its factory in
Ellesmere Port, a move unions predict will secure 3,000 jobs.

BBC
online reports that Vauxhall is to invest £80m in the factory.

Trade
and industry secretary Patricia Hewitt welcomed the announcement.
