GMB officials are meeting Asda management today for last ditch talks as the deadline approaches for the supermarket’s threat to end the collective agreement at its Dartford depot.
Asda said it was looking to “modernise the current, outdated agreement” at the depot and warned that if progress had not been made by 28 February then the existing agreement between the GMB and the company will be “terminated”.

Earlier this month an employment tribunal in Newcastle upon Tyne penalised Asda to the tune of £850,000 for attempting to induce employees to give up collective bargaining.
The GMB represents 25,000 members working in Asda’s 300-plus stores and 21 distribution depots across the UK.
