The first woman director has been appointed by the Construction Industry
Training Board.
Sheila Hoile, who takes up her post next month, will be the CITB’s new
director of Training Standards & Strategy.
She is relishing the challenge.
"The industry has to address how to meet client demands for improved
efficiency and quality of service. This can only be achieved with a fully
competent and well-motivated workforce," she said.
"Firstly, this means recruiting and retaining sufficient people through
promoting a positive image of the industry, particularly among young people and
their influencers.

"Secondly, while the best employers appreciate that appropriate and
timely training is an investment and not a cost, there is a still a job to be
done driving that culture right through the supply chain. The CITB is committed
to action on both these issues."
Hoile joins the CITB from the Construction Industry Council, where she
developed a code of best practice for training providers.
