The
Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is warning workers in pubs and clubs of the
dangers of exposure to excessive noise levels.
The
latest review conducted by the HSE laboratory found a definite potential for
harm to staff from the effects of noise, although it failed to establish the
number of individuals whose hearing will be impaired as a result.
The
HSE, while recognising the difficulties associated with trying to control noise
in pubs and clubs, is warning employees and the general public to be aware of
the risks from amplified music.
The
HSE is now considering how to take the recommendations forward in partnership
with other government departments and industry and employee representatives.
