The
downturn in the UK IT jobs market is a temporary set-back, and unlikely to last
long according the British Computer Society.
The
BCS claims that a report by the Council of European Professional Informatics
Societies shows that the market is set to recover.
The
research, presented to the EU by Dr Matthew Dixon, finds that with an annual
growth rate of 10 per cent in employment, there could be demand for over 1.5
million IT staff by 2005.
The
report compared IT jobs across Europe and found there was a greater proportion
of self-employed staff in the UK while female computer workers were more common
in Ireland and Sweden.
