Job losses as ITV Digital proves real turn-off

Around
1,500 jobs will be lost as ITV Digital closes.

The
plug was finally pulled on the TV network after administrators Deloitte &
Touche failed to find a buyer for the service.

The
BBC reports that about 225 staff at ITV Digital’s London headquarters,
including the senior management team, have already lost their jobs.

About
900 call centre workers, contracted to the company through employment firm
Manpower, at Pembroke Dock in Wales are to be laid off this week.

The
BBC said 500 staff at the company’s Plymouth call centre will be kept on for a
few more weeks to handle calls from ITV Digital subscribers.
