Learning & development

KnowledgePool creates division for financial services clients

by Personnel Today 21 Nov 2007
by Personnel Today 21 Nov 2007

KnowledgePool, the managed learning services company, has created a new division, which will be led by CEO Paul Jefferson, to more clearly align its services to the needs of financial services organisations.

The company, whose financial services clients include Lloyds TSB and Merrill Lynch, works in long-term partnership with learning and development teams, providing training administration, supplier management, learning consultancy, the management of tailored programmes and the evaluation of all learning.

Paul Jefferson explained: “A growing number of financial services organisations are looking to outsource the management of their learning and development, rather than handle this non-core activity in-house, enabling them to focus on setting strategy and policy. Establishing the new division gives us the opportunity to grow this important sector to its full potential, while maintaining our focus on client satisfaction, innovation and value for money.”

To help structure and present its offering to financial services organisations, KnowledgePool has appointed Terry Lockhart as a divisional advisor and it has also recruited a new sales team dedicated to this sector.

An independent consultant, Terry Lockhart was formerly Head of Leadership and Development at Merrill Lynch, responsible for the investment bank’s training and development, talent management and performance management.

His previous roles include Global Head of Leadership, Learning and Development at Barclays Capital; Head of Organisational Effectiveness at Citigroup and Head of Learning and Development for Europe at Morgan Stanley. Before this, he spent five years at Cranfield School of Management as a consultant and lecturer in international business. He has also worked as a consultant and trainer for Management Development International, as a senior researcher for a joint venture project between Price Waterhouse and Cranfield and as a lecturer in international relations at the London School of Economics.

He has authored books, articles and chapters on management, leadership, strategy development and international HR. He holds an MA in Political Science and an MA in International Relations, both from American University in Washington DC, and sits on the board of advisers for EQUIS, the European quality kitemark for business schools, awarded by the European Foundation for Management Development.

Terry Lockhart said: “KnowledgePool has distinct capabilities and talent in training management and business process outsourcing. I am very excited by the opportunity of working with this new division and helping to establish KnowledgePool as the City’s premier provider of managed learning services.”

Terry Lockhart will present, at a KnowledgePool breakfast briefing, on leadership development in investment banking. This will be held in central London in January 2008.
