The DTI is to launch a taskforce to look at the challenges presented by an
ageing workforce.
The Government is recruiting leading figures from employers’ bodies to help
advise companies on the legal obligations they will face when age
discrimination at work becomes illegal in December 2006.
Sources suggest the taskforce will investigate how the Government and EU can
shape policy to improve the situation.
Recent figures show that business could face a flood of litigation, with
eight out of 10 workers over 50 claiming to have been victims of age
discrimination.
