The
survey by search and selection company Huntswood, finds that more than 50 per
cent of management consultants plan to move from their current positions within
the next year.
And
43 per cent aim to move within six months, with only one in 10 seeing
themselves in the same position in two years.
The
survey also shows that consultants work long hours, often sacrifice weekends,
and spend much time away from home. In all, 82 per cent of consultants work
more than 46 hours a week.
Managing
consultant at Huntswood, Michelle Moules, said: "During periods of
economic slowdown people’s expectations of what their employer should offer do
not fall and if they are made to put up with less-than-perfect conditions
employees will start to look for positions that match their needs more closely
as soon as the market improves.

protect themselves in the long run, consultancies would do well to check staff
motivation levels and try to pre-empt any factors that could result in the loss
of key members of staff."
