Employment in the manufacturing sector is expected to increase at a much
higher rate this quarter than the previous one, according to research.
The quarterly Recruitment Confidence Index, developed by Cranfield School of
Management and the Daily Telegraph, in association with Personnel Today, shows
employment for all staff is set to rise by 35 per cent, com-pared with 19 per
cent the previous quarter. Managerial/ professional employment is set to rise
by 27 per cent, compared with the previous quarter’s figure of 7 per cent.
Employment levels of all staff in the services sector is also set to rise
this quarter by 36 per cent, compared with the previous quarter’s result of 26
per cent. But levels for managerial/professional staff are set to rise at a
slightly lower rate than last autumn (18 per cent, compared with 20 per cent in
the previous quarter).
