More
than 200,000 manufacturing jobs have been lost in the UK over the past 15
months – 5 per cent of the total number of jobs in the sector.
The
figures, from the Office of National Statistics, show the biggest losses were
in Scotland, where 10 per cent of the total number of jobs were lost, and Wales
and Northern Ireland, where 7 per cent of the total were lost.
The
TUC in Wales says interest rates need to be cut by 0.25 per cent to combat the
slide.
