The
Metropolitan Police has recruited its 2,000th ethnic minority officer, but
still has a long way to go to achieve government targets of minority
representation.
The
Met aims to hit the Home Office target of 25.9 per cent ethnic minority
officers by 2009. At the end of the 2003/04 reporting year, the figure stood at
6.6 per cent.
Martin
Tiplady, HR director at the Met, said achieving the Home Office target within
the allotted time will be a challenging task.
