The
Metropolitan Police is set to become the first police force to begin taking new
recruits from foreign countries.
Provisions
in last year’s Police Reform Act will enable HR chiefs to recruit new officers from
the European economic area and foreign nationals living in the UK.
Prior
to the changes, only UK and Commonwealth citizens were allowed to join the
police force.
