Education - further and higher

MOL Flexible Learning Specialists

by Personnel Today 7 Sep 2005
by Personnel Today 7 Sep 2005

HR specific/related courses: CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice; CIPD Certificate in Training Practice (CTP); CIPD Professional Development
Scheme (PDS), embracing the fields of people management and development, leadership and management, generalist/development/specialist electives and applied personnel and development (individual fields of the PDS may be studied); Advanced Professional Diplomas in Empoyment Law and Managing Organisational Learning and Development; Professional Assessment of Competence (PAC); MA in Strategic Human Resources. All programmes are delivered by flexible learning; students are issued with workbooks and study materials and attend focused workshops, with tutor direct support available on an ‘as needed’ basis, including evenings and weekends.

Founded: 1985, as a provider of flexible learning solutions. It has offered CIPD programmes since 1991.

College CV: MOL has been running CIPD programmes via flexible learning for individuals and corporate groups for more than 10 years. It has a long association with the CIPD (it won the commission to write the first CIPD training manual) and now delivers CIPD Flexible Learning Programmes throughout the UK. It has a long track record in developing flexible learning programmes in a number of other sectors, including construction, engineering and general management. Its learning materials are developed in-house via its own publishing and production unit and team of designers, editors, technical writers and production staff. The Adult Learning Inspectorate recently gave positive feedback on all aspects of MOL’s programmes, including retention and achievement levels on CIPD programmes and its results are consistently among the best in the UK – for three consecutive years MOL students achieved highest marks in the CIPD’s national examinations. Since MOL delivers CIPD programmes at regional study centres across the UK, students are able to transfer their studies between centres if their circumstances change. The flexible nature of the programmes means that MOL also has international students as far flung as the Middle East, Eastern Europe and the Caribbean.

Entry: There is open access to the CIPD programmes and specific advice on this can be obtained from MOL’s national enquiry centre (0161-203 2103).
