Online recruitment activity dipped in July, according to new figures from recruitment consultancy Monster. The Monster Employment Index UK, which measures recruitment activity on the firm’s website, showed reduced online hiring for the fifth consecutive month. The decline was driven by fewer job opportunities in the banking, finance and insurance sectors. Online job demand within these sectors dropped to its lowest level since April. However, demand for management and consulting workers rose to its highest level in the past 12 months. Online opportunities in the telecommunications sector also picked up last month, after virtually no change over the previous four months. Alan Townsend, chief operating officer of Monster UK & Ireland, said: “Although the index dipped slightly in July, online job demand is still very high in the UK, up 15 points year-on-year.
