staff have been assured that the newspaper group’s new owners, the Barclays,
will uphold existing union agreements, according to the Guardian.
David
Barclay’s son, Aidan Barclay, telephoned the father of the Telegraph’s National
Union of Journalists’ chapel to agree to a meeting in early August, after the
union requested a guarantee that its house agreement would be upheld by the new
owners.

Staff
had raised concerns that an agreement on pay and conditions, reached earlier
this year, could be disregarded by the Barclays.
