The
NHS Confederation has announced that Steve Barnett will be the new director of
the NHS Employers’ Organisation, and Alastair
Henderson will be deputy director.
T he
new Employers’ Organisation will conduct national negotiations over pay, terms
and conditions and new contracts. It will represent the views of employers and
support them through advice, information and networking. It will also promote
the NHS as an employer of choice.
Dr
Gill Morgan, chief executive of the NHS Confederation, said "I am
delighted we have appointed Steve and Alastair
to these important roles. Shaping and running the NHS Employers’ Organisation
will be an exciting challenge and I am glad we have such a capable and
experienced team leading the organisation."
Barnett
will formally take up his post on 4 January 2005.
