The
UK must start doing more on occupational health issues according to the head of
the Health and Safety Commission (HSC).
HSC
chair Bill Callaghan said the body’s annual report and accounts showed that
much had been achieved, although there needed to be more emphasis on
occupational health.
He
also announced that the HSC was currently developing a new national strategy to
prioritise the body’s activities in the coming years.
"The
world of work does not stand still and the nation’s health and safety strategy
must keep pace with the changes. We are now developing a new strategy to take
the health and safety system to 2010," he said.
