Education and skills secretary Charles Clarke has announced the appointment
of Clare Chapman, HR director at Tesco, to the Qualifications and Curriculum
Authority. This appointment will take effect on 1 October 2004 and will last
for three years.
Shepherd Construction has announced the appointment to its executive board
of Sharon Copland-Jones as personnel director.

The employment law team at Pinsents has announced changes at the top. Chris
Booth, an employment lawyer who has been with Pinsents since qualification in
1987, has become the new employment group head. His predecessor, Dr John
McMullen, is taking on two new challenges. He has just been appointed to serve
on the council of Acas. Internally, he has also been appointed to serve in the
newly-created post of head of international employment law.
The Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) has announced the appointment of
Sheila Rogers to the post of chief executive. Rogers was seconded to the CRE
from the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland in 2002, and has since worked
as head of communities policy and programmes, and more recently as director of
strategy and delivery.
