Five winners emerged in the official health and safety awards. Teams from
Birmingham Specialist Community Health NHS Trust, Lincolnshire NHS Trust, the
Scottish Ambulance Service, the Singleton Hospital in Swansea and the
Staffordshire Ambulance Service shared the spoils at a ceremony attended by
John Monks, general secretary of the TUC.
Partnership was emphasised as a key criterion by judges. Applicants had to
explain how they collaborated, and be specific about the benefits for their
organisations.
"Effective employee involvement in health and safety, through
partnerships between unions and employers, makes work safer," said Monks.
