Women
and ethnic minorities are being targeted by a new police recruitment campaign
that starts on national TV today.
Home
Office minister Hazel Blears is launching the campaign, which is designed to
increase the profile of the job, especially among under-represented groups in
the force.
The
television advertisement features nursery school teacher Lisa Potts, who
protected her school children from a machete-wielding attacker in 2001.
The
£5m campaign will also include radio and press advertising as well as a re-run
of a previous commercial featuring boxing champion Lennox Lewis.
